Please be mindful of the following dates as you manage your account as transaction dates are affected by market closures. Talk to your financial advisor, tax advisor or employer if you have questions.

Important Dates for 2020

Our offices will be closed for the following holidays:

  • January 1 – New Year’s Day
  • January 20 – Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
  • February 17 – Washington’s Birthday
  • April 10 – Good Friday
  • May 25 – Memorial Day
  • July 4 – Independence Day
  • September 7 – Labor Day
  • November 26 – Thanksgiving Day
  • December 25 – Christmas Day

IRS Tax dates affecting your HSA:

  • January 1 – April 15 – Contributions can be made for tax years 2018 and 2019. Be sure to specify the correct tax year for your contributions made during this time period.
  • January 31 – Tax Form 1099-SA distributed. 1099-SA reports all withdrawals from the HSA between January 1 and December 31 of the previous tax year.
  • April 15 – Last day to make mailed or online contributions to your HSA for the previous tax year. Mailed contributions must be POSTMARKED by this date, and online contributions must be RECEIVED by 11:59 p.m. of this date.
  • June 3 – Tax Form 5498-SA distributed. Form 5498-SA reports all contributions made between January 1st and December 31st of the prior tax year. This form also reports contributions made between January 1st and April 15th for the current tax year.

2020 Market Closures:

  • January 1 – New Year’s Day

  • July 3 – Day before Independence Day*
  • July 4 – Independence Day
  • September 7 – Labor Day

  • November 27 – Day following Thanksgiving*
  • December 24 – Christmas Eve*
  • December 25 – Christmas Day

*The NYSE will close at 1 p.m. ET, and any requests for reimbursement or mutual fund exchanges submitted after 12 p.m. ET will be processed the next business day.
