IRS Changes Family HSA Contribution Limit

According to Internal Revenue Bulletin 2018-10 (Part III, Section 4), the IRS has lowered the HSA contribution limit for accountholders with Family coverage from $6,900 to $6,850. The contribution limit for those with Individual coverage remains the same at $3,450, as announced in May 2017.

The High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) definitions remain the same, with a minimum deductible of $1,350/Individual and $2,700/Family and maximum out-of-pocket amounts of $6,650/Individual and $13,300/Family.

2018 Contribution Limits

Individual: $3,450

Family: $6,850 (adjusted from $6,900)

Catch-up Contribution: $1,000 (ages 55+)
